Early 40's for me.
However, for many many years there was the constant battle of trying to do whats 'right' with doing what I considered to be normal activities, eg having fun!
Had many years in a difficult marriage where there was no love either way, but I was a ministerial servant and should be 'working' on the marriage problems - everything was my fault when things didn't go right depsite the fact that she would never go out in field service, would never answer at meetings, never study etc etc.
So glad I am out now, so are my children. I have a great relationship with them and it is fantastic to have a life in which I care deeply about others but can really enjoy myself without any feelings of guilt.
In other words - I FEEL ALIVE!!!

Just a small note on Richard Jessop.
One day, I was right at the back of a very large group meeting in a private house for field ministry.
Richard was taking the days text and wanted me to read the comments, being small and at the back he couldn't see me so he boomed out "where is my illustrious reader!".
I know it doesn't sound much but it was funny at the time and certainly the only time in my life that I have been called illustrious!

Oh yeah - Ted Wright!
We couldn't remember his surname - thanks Free2.
The 'Brian' that a couple have mentioned is Brian and Val SCOTT. V nice and friendly couple.
They were from Matlock in Derbyshire.

Hi, I'm new
by Diva inhi, this is my first post but ive been lurking around this discussion board for some time now.
my husband (the borg) occasionally posts and i had the pleasure of meeting some great people at the apostofest in covent garden, london last year arranged by bestie and sweetpea , hi to you both and hi to freetothink, mr majestic and everyone that was there hope youre all ok.. my story in a nutshell: raised a jw from birth, my whole family, expect one brother and sister (disfellowshipped) are still jws - basically i was raised in a family who were considered one of the pillars of the congregation, we all pioneered and did the whole witness thing, in fact one of my sisters is a missionary.
my whole jw world crumbled when i learnt about the jw/un connection and from that moment on there was no turning back.

Hi Diva,
Bubble and I were at the Covent Garden Apostafest and do remember you but we were sitting on a different table so didn't really get a chance to chat.
Welcome to the board and we look forward to hearing more details of your fade.

by Simon inthe topic on assembly meals hot food at the dcs past...what was it like?

Simon,
We only went to Hillsborough once - being from 'down south', my parents thought it would be a good idea to go to a different assembly.
I remember that my mum wouldn't let my dad drive at more than 60mph so the trip from Sussex took forever.
Also it was at Hillsborough where my brother and I tried to relieve the boredom by guessing how many were in attendance and guess what - I got it right, EXACTLY!
I told my brother that I had special powers and could always tell how many people were at assemblies but that I would sometimes get it wrong so everyone thought I didn't have the power!
Hellas bars - yes good, but only at assemblies for some reason.

Been to London today!!!
by digderidoo ini haven't been to london in about 15 years.
i decided to take my kids for their first outing to see the sights.
i remember as a kid going with my mom and nan, we actually went inside the houses of parliament, went in the house of lords, up downing st, but now with the terrorist threats obviously all thats changed.. there is a definate difference in the security aspect of it, but not enough to take the shine off the experience.. we saw the changing of the guard at buckingham palace, the band playing were the ghurka regiment, something i have never seen before.

I work in London at least two days a week and we live about half on hours train journey (or one and a half hours by car - 22 miles!!) away.
In my opinion London is one of the greatest cities on earth - the mix of ulta modern with the fantastic history is breathtaking. London is really made up of lots of villages all combined to make one city, each part has its own unique atmosphere ant identity.
